Avocado Oil (Expeller Pressed)

Qty:

Avocado Oil (Persea Gratissima)

From the Greek word "persea" (tree) and the Latin word "gratissima" (very pleasing) . . .

Discovered by the Spaniards during the 15th century, the avocado tree originates from the subtropical Americas. Today it can also be found throughout Spain and Europe.

At one time, Avocado Oil was believed to be an aphrodisiac. In addition, it's been used as a hair pomade to stimulate hair growth.

Current speculation among researchers is that Avocado Oil may mobilize and increase the collagen of connective tissue.

The natural oil is expeller pressed from the fleshy poriton of the avocado fruit and is greenish in color with a faint odor. Primary uses include cosmetics, high-grade salad oil, hair conditions and suntan lotions.

Commonly used in the cosmetic industry because it soothes skin and helps transport active substances into the skin, Avocado Oil has high concentrations of Vitamins A, D and E.

Avocado Oil has the highest penetration rate among similar oils (corn, soybean, solive and almond) and is comprised mostly of oleic, linoleic, and linoleinc acids, as well as palmitic and palmitoleic acids, lecithin, phytosterol and carnotinoids.

Common Uses of Avocado Oil

  • Effective as an emollient and carrier oil
  • Treats minor skin irritations
  • Ranked best sunscreen by the Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology when compared to other naturally derived oils
