Essential Oil Production

From Farm to Bottle -
Essential Oils are produced primarily from plants belonging to the laurel, conifer, rutaceae, myrtaceae, labiatae and umbelliferae families. The part of the plant containing the greatest concentration of Essential Oil is selected for use in production. Depending on the plant, this may be the flower, leaf, wood, bark, fruit, seed or root and careful selection of this specific part ensures a highly concentrated Essential Oil.

The Art of Distilling -
Oils by Nature Essential Oils are produced using a stainless steel steam distillation system. Steam from heated mountain spring water is conducted under low pressure through a still containing plant matter. As the steam passes through the plant matter, heat liberates the aromatic molecules and carries them to a condenser where the steam is then cooled. The resulting liquid flows to a collection receiver where gravity separates the denser Essential Oil from the remaining liquid. The collected Essential Oil is then filtered and immediately packaged.

Low Yield, High Integrity -
Due to the extremely large quantities of aromatic plant matter required to produce relatively small quantities of Essential Oil, we continually monitor temperature, pressure, duration and water quality throughout production to achieve the highest possible yield while maintaining the integrity of the Essential Oil.

Stringent Testing for Absolute Purity - (above)
A biochemical profile highlighting both physical analyses; specific gravity, refractive index and optical rotation as well as chemical analysis using gas chromatography is performed on every lot to ensure a pure, unadulterated Essential Oil.

Packaging to Fit Your Needs -
Oils by Nature Essential Oils are available in a wide range of standard package sizes. Should it be necessary, we will work with you to meet any special packaging requirements. To maximize product shelf life and stability, we use only the highest quality glass and glazed aluminum packaging.

Tips on Storing Your Essential Oils
To ensure maximum nutrient retention and longevity of the oil, we recommend adhering to the following guidelines:

Avoid direct sunlight and extreme heat. Optimal storage temperature range is 40°F - 80°F. This provides a shelf life of 3-5 years.
